Ghosts

Hollow Mortes is home to many ghosts. They are a peculiar form of creature. When you think of a ghost you often think of a human who is caught between life and death; between this world and the next. The ghosts of Hollow Mortes are not exclusive to humans. Any creature can become a ghost.

How Does One Become a Ghost?
There are a few ways to become a ghost.
1. Necromancy
– A ghost can be made through the use of necromancy to summon the soul beck into the land of the living. Ghosts made this way are under the command of their summoner and have little autonomy.
2. Self imposed Ghosthood
-In the final moments of a person’s life, if the correct steps have been taken in preparation, a person may turn themselves into a ghost once their physical body has died. This requires an in depth understanding of rune spells and CUE in order to perform correctly.
-Those who have performed this successfully often extend their lives for several years after their original death.
– However, this is not a permanent reprieve from death. Those who become ghosts often can experience a form of dementia the longer they are a ghost.
-It takes incredible stamina, control, and discipline to maintain a healthy ghost form.
-There are those who have managed to remain a sane ghost for decades, if not centuries in rare cases.

Ghosts, whether summoned or self made can take many forms. Some often stick to a vapor-like form with few distinguishing features. Many remain invisible as it is the easiest form to maintain. Some can create a detailed physical construct similar to that of their original bodies, though this can only be maintained for brief periods of time.
