The past few months have been hard. I lost my job, then got it back. My grandmother passed, and my mental health has declined dramatically. There were a lot of days when I was simply going through the motions and every time someone gave me any pushback if felt like a gut punch or a slap in the face. Even though I knew it wasn’t intended to be that from the people do it. I put my writing aside for a while. only touching it once in a while if I had a small idea I wanted to write down and not forget.
But now that summer is here I have a lot more free time. I’ve taken up reading a writing more and it has helped a lot. I feel more like myself. I feel happier and more rested. My anxiety and depression has taken a back seat to excitment at picking up a pen and letting the words pour out of me. As a result of this I’ve finished the rough draft of a short story set in my world of Hollow Mortes. I have a website where I showcase my world building HollowMortes.com.
I said a few months ago that I was going to publish short stories on it for people to read for free. I had 3 ideas for stories at the time. And now, one of them “They Lurk in the Trees” is done the rough draft stage! It is 22 notebook pages long. There are also a few post its throughout it with ideas of what to add or change. Now I need to go through, edit, and type it up before I publish. And I want to hear feedback on it when it’s published. So when I publish it I hope you will read it and let me know what you think.
